Data Reporting

Google presentation app is an excellent program that provides users the same neat tools any other presentation programs has. The cool thing about Google Presentations is that it allows for collaboration with peers and colleagues, and it makes sharing and accessing presentations easy.

Creating presentations together is easy because you can:

  • See exactly what others are working on with colorful presence markers
  • Edit with your team members simultaneously from different locations
  • Use revision history to see who made changes or to revert to earlier versions
  • Say hello, start a conversation or share new ideas using built-in chat

Through Google presentations I've learned about all the neat features you can use to make presentations compelling and informative including:
  • Transitions to move between slides with simple fades or spicier 3D effects
  • Animations to add emphasis or to make your slides more playful
  • New themes to create beautiful presentations with distinct visual styles
  • Drawings to build new designs, layouts, and flowcharts within a presentation
  • Rich tables with merged cells and more options for adding style to your data

I plan on using the presentation tool as a means of recording and presenting student progress, trends, graphs, lessons and student project/assignments.  I've previously used it when presenting data analysis through Student Information Sheets (SIS). I graphed a number of both individual student and group trends throughout the year.

The ISTE standards that are relevant to the data analysis project include the ability to design and develop digital-age learning experiences and assessments by modeling digital-age work and learning. Teachers, "collaborate with students, peers, parents, and community members using digital tools and resources to support student success and innovation" and "model and facilitate effective use of current and emerging digital tools to locate, analyze, evaluate, and use information resources to support research and learning."

The Data Analysis can help teachers help their students. Data charts can show the trends in student grades, and hence, the effectiveness of teacher instruction.
