Interactive Lessons

I designed my interactive lesson over the MimioStudio Notebook. The Mimio is an innovative, engaging and affordable educational technology and solutions that provides both teachers and students a fun educational experience. The primary products are focused around computer whiteboard interactive teaching devices. MimioCapture devices also allow users to capture all of the ink strokes that are written on the whiteboard. When used in conjunction with a video projector it turns the ordinary whiteboard surface into a fully interactive whiteboard.

I constructed my interactive lesson over Digital Citizenship: Cyberbullying. Initially as I was working on it I noticed it was coming out to be just like any other PowerPoint presentation, a whole bunch of slides and links. I started brainstorming ideas on what I could do with the topic I had chosen (cyberbullying) and came to the idea of making it like a story book where the students had choices and decisions to make as they go through the lesson. Students will be asked to categorize pictures as either bullying or cyberbullying. Once they complete that they will be put in a situation that will require them to decide if they want to support cyberbullying or not.

Mimio interactive lesson planning has taught me how to integrate technology with interactive play into lessons. All of the neat resources, multimedia, images, and graphics that Mimio Studio provides users an easy program to create fun, interactive lessons for any subject area. The Mimio Connect website all provides a number of pre-made interactive lessons for all subject areas including: math, science, social studies, art, geography, etc. The interactive lesson will enable me to facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity and model an effective use of current and emerging digital tools to locate, analyze, evaluate, and use information resources to support research and learning.
